Inspecting a Wig To Keep or Not To Keep by Kathleen

Inspecting a Wig To Keep or Not To Keep by Kathleen

Hi folks Kathleen here with a inspection checklist to use when you receive a new wig. I’ll be honest. I don't really send wigs back. Having said that if I had a checklist in front of me I might have. What happens is I get excited..throw the wig on and I’m off to the races. By the time I notice “issues” I’ve fallen in love with my new wig and most likely have voided my ability to return her. That plus I am a Taurus.....need I say more. I’m very stubborn and creative so I just figure I’ll find a way to “fix” the issues/issues.

Why do certain styles look longer/shorter on different people?

That is a fantastic question! Now, I also have a question for you, have you measured your face? (from your hairline to your chin) This measurement will help greatly with figuring what the length of a style will be on you, especially when it comes those shorter, pixie cuts! I also have a very petite cap size and about a 7" long face. So, I know when I see a certain style has a fringe measurement of 3.75" (about 4"), I know it's most likely going to fall around my cheekbone, maybe a bit higher, like with Ivy by Noriko. I use this same trick for the side measurement as well. I find it really helps me determine if I'll like the length of a certain style.

Our wigs, on the other hand, are often much more expensive in terms of wholesale cost. The average synthetic wig in our store has a wholesale cost of over $100. That's for a single unit! On top of that, some of these wigs come in dozens of colors, meaning that we (CysterWigs) could spend over $7000 to take images of JUST the Allure by Jon Renau, for example. Multiply this expense times 350+ different styles, and you're talking an expense of several hundred thousand dollars for what, at the end of the day, is a helpful appearing marketing gimmick that isn't as helpful as you might think.

Why is it so difficult to find wigs in pure cool / ash tones?

Why is it so difficult to find wigs in pure cool / ash tones?

May 13, 2020 3 Comments

Almost every wig color in the world, with very few exceptions, has a bit of gold, neutral (or “honey”) tones, or auburn mixed in, if only in subtle amounts. Pure ash colors do exist, especially in the platinums and lighter greys, but they are definitely few and far between. This is because ash tones tend to age people, and most women want to look younger than their actual age, not the other way around.
