So close and yet so far

I have such mixed feelings about my Dakota.

First of all, as I have said in other reviews here, I love the RoP line for its beautiful fibers and sophisticated range of styles and colors. The color I chose for Dakota is one I have on two other pieces, Caramel Brown. It is a lovely and realistic blend of 4-6, and an ash blonde. You can read the manufacturer's description to get a better idea of it.

Depending on how I part Dakota, the ash blonde is more or less prominent and that is a plus. It can be changed for versatility. Since I don't typically like mono parts, I am happy to report that I can also vary the side the part is on. I prefer parts on the right (I am left-handed, so that figures) and so a full mono top is better for me.

On the positive side, Dakota is exactly how I wear my biohair: same length and style. I have had my biohair this way since college, with occasional changes to bobs and other styles. I always come back to this as it seems most like "me". Dakota has a lace front -- not a great one but not bad. She is very light weight and the density is realistic. I never had a ton of hair and it has gotten thinner as time has gone on, so for me, this is great. Dakota doesn't have too much permatease, if any. For me that is also great.

On the not so positive side, it seems like a cheaply made wig, I am sorry to say. The hair is a bit shiny. The lace doesn't also lie flat. It tangles like crazy -- too much for my taste. I wish they would just improve the…

Gets sticky quickly

So I would LOVE to give this wig 5/5 stars because when it first arrives I absolutely love this piece! I have naturally thin, silky hair and this is very close to my natural hair. It’s super soft & not heavy and bulky like a LOT of other wigs. However......within a few wears this piece gets SUPER sticky at the ends, totally loses its silky texture :( so for this I would give it a 1/5 stars but I love it so much at first I couldn’t do that. Luckily it’s inexpensive and I just continue to order about 1 every month or so.

Dakota in Melted Sunset

Dakota is a beautiful wig with soft, flowy fibers. I love the way she looks on, super stylish! She makes me feel like a rock star! The cap fits nicely with great coverage. The two negatives with this wig is that she tangles easily and also sheds pretty quickly. This wouldn’t deter me from buying her again though. The pros of Dakota far outweigh the cons. Don’t pass her up!

Dakota in Plumberry Jam-LR, YES!

I really wanted something in Plumberry Jam-LR, so after I tried Kai and didn't care for her I ordered Dakota.

I love the color, the length, and the style of Dakota. The razor-cut layers are modern and flattering. The dark brown roots keep Plumberry Jam from being too bright (I'm a dark-hair girl), while the bright burgundy-pink-purple ends are fun and attention-getting.

The downside, as others have mentioned, are the fibers. They're what kept me from making this a five-star review. The fibers are thin and the ends look dry. Because of the length, Dakota is very tangly, and combing out the tangles exacerbates the problem. To combat the tangles and the dry look I use the Jon Renau wide-tooth comb--slowly and carefully--in combination with a lot of Simply Stylin' spray. Sometimes I spray it on the ends themselves, sometimes I spray it on my hands and use my hands to smooth it onto the fibers.

I do find, also as others have mentioned, that Dakota tends to shed. I lose a number of fibers every time I comb her, in spite of my care.

The fit is okay, not great. I find that there is a bit of lace in the front that will not lie flat no matter how I have the cap adjusted or what I wear underneath. I tried using It Stays to keep the lace down but between Dakota's long hair and my short bio hair underneath it did not work at all. What I've discovered, though, is that the bangs fall over the part of the lace that does not lie flat and as long as I don't pull the hair back no one…
