THE GIST:

Kristen is a less expensive alternative to Kristi by Jon Renau. It's the same cut, the only difference is in the cap construction. This is a GREAT wig. Jon Renau wigs are beautifully done and very well made. The colors are very beautiful and the hair fibers are very light. This is a wonderful, professional wig with a 100% hand tied lace front for added realism.

JR Kristen in Flurry

This is a very pretty wig and is a lovely color. I wish it had a little more plum to it and more dimension. Also because my face is also long, Kristen was probably not the best choice for me. However it is a very nice wig!!!! I’m wondering if other shorter styles with perhaps some curl might look better for me at least and the flurry color. I am returning the wig but I still recommend it!

Jon Renau Kristen in Flurry (Arctic Collection)

She’s so pretty!!! I love this Flurry shade, it’s a lovely, dark rooted lilac-y gray. I have Kristen in other shades but this is the best. I only wish she were heat friendly so I would have more styling options. But there is always the steam option ;).

Gorgeous wig

I finally bought this wig after loving the Flurry color for a few months (I am new to wigs). I got it right before Thanksgiving, and wore it for our dinner;-) I have a long thin face, and it was longer on me than I thought it would be, but I was very happy with it. The color is definitey more subtle than in the photos here, and I was grateful for some of the other reviews noting this. I was very happy with the color and texture, and you can still see that plum undertone. I wear glasses and continue to struggle with pinching in wigs, I wish more wigs had open ear tabs for me!

Can I just explain to you how adorable this is?

First of all, I want to say that it is so. freakin'. hard. to find a gray wig in a cute style. So right off the bat, thank you Cysterwigs, because you are not only forward thinking w/r/t carrying loads of gray wigs, but you are also super helpful and terrific, which makes you the winner! The situation is as follows: you're a girl person or a lady person, or even a grown up person, and you love your gray hair, and you want yourself a gray wig and yet, and yet. You look at page after page and while you see gray wigs, you see none that would suit you, or more to the point, none you can afford. You think to yourself sadly, phone covered in tears, and what you think in between sniffles is this: "Dang. These styles are not for me. I may be in the second half of life, but I am not Edith Bunker. I do not want the bouffant! I cannot get rid of my gray; I love it! Besides. My friends will *totally* know this is me-in-a-wig because I would never dye my hair!"

Such were my internal and loopy thought processes while glumly searching for a youthful and fun, yet decidedly gray mop for my top. Then, I think to myself, wait a minute. You have an Ambrose. You love your Ambrose. Get thee hence to Cysterwigs and see what's what.

Enter the Kristen! In Storm (best color ever, and the kissing cousin to my own sadly absentee locks) which I am such a fan of that I can't even tell you. It is stunning. It's just the best color ever. I adore this piece. It is cute (and it's gonna be even…

Unexpected success

Jon Renau is my favorite wig manufacturer (apart from Heather/CysterWigs). All the wigs I have gotten save one (Julianne) have been beautiful and practical, so I don't hesitate to get more.

I have had Kristens before. About eight years ago I got her in a dark color and then gave her away because she didn't have a mono top and that makes the darkest versions of Kristen look less realistic, as they don't have a root. If I am going to forego a mono top or part, I have to have lace and rooting.

Then a couple of years ago I got Kristen in Palm Springs and Venice blondes. These work well for me as cool blondes and because they are rooted, they don't look wiggy to me.

This time I decided I wanted to try something from the Arctic Collection before it is gone forever. The only one that would work is Sleet. It has a very cool platinum blonde effect despite being mostly gray. When it first arrived I wasn't sure I would like it, but once I tried it on and styled it with the part on the right, I realized I really like it. Now I have three blonde Kristens and am very happy with all three. I put a couple of pictures here to show the color in different lighting. Both pictures are directly under different skylights, with no artificial lighting on.

I was so happy that I went ahead and ordered another one in Chocolate Cherry. I will review that separately, but I am delighted to say it looks rooted, amazingly enough.

By the way, Kristen in Sleet is very silky in real life, but not shiny.…
